The Choose Ohio First Scholarship is intended to boost Ohio’s competitiveness in the STEM fields and STEM education.
Ohio’s colleges and universities get funds from the Ohio Department of Higher Education to help students participate in innovative academic initiatives. Students pursuing a certificate, associate degree, baccalaureate degree, or graduate degree in qualified STEM and STEM education subjects can apply for scholarships from participating universities and colleges.

Meeting the educational needs of the entire state
Increasing the cost-effectiveness of baccalaureate degree completion
Recruiting women and students of color, who are underrepresented in STEM fields.
Choose Ohio First invests in higher education and corporate partnerships that will strengthen Ohio’s position in global sectors like aerospace, health, and information technology. These agreements will result in significant improvements in Ohio’s pipeline of STEM graduates and STEM educators. Choose Ohio First is part of a larger strategy to strengthen Ohio’s economy by providing a skilled workforce for STEM-related businesses.
